REAL Software Announces Linux Strategy; Enables the Migration of Visual Basic Projects to Linux
REALbasic to Build Applications for LinuxAUSTIN, Texas (July 21, 2003)— REAL Software, Inc. announced today its plans to support Linux in REALbasic 5.5, the next major upgrade to the award-winning cross-platform visual development environment. REALbasic enables developers to create native applications for multiple platforms from a single code base. REALbasic 5, currently shipping, creates applications for Windows and Macintosh from either platform. REALbasic 5.5 will add the ability to create Linux applications from Windows or Macintosh computers.

REALbasic 5 Professional Edition, required for cross-platform compilation for Windows and Macintosh, is available now starting at US$399.95. REALbasic 5.5 beta is currently scheduled for Q4 2003 and will be open to all REALbasic 5 users. REALbasic 5.5 is expected to ship in Q1 2004.
