What's New at REAL Software?
REALbasic
REALbasic 2008 Release 5 shipped on December 9th, adding more than 100 improvements to REALbasic and some new functionality, including both the ability to print source code in color and to duplicate methods, properties and constants. This release improves upon auto-complete, a feature that all REALbasic developers use many times a day. Auto-complete now supports namespaces and uses icons to show what is being selected from the auto-complete list. Additionally, you can now write your own tools to completely automate the building of your applications.

We will be shipping an update to Release 5 next week that will fix an issue with adding tabs to a TabPanel. To work around the issue, close your window editor tab and re-open it. This issue affects TabPanels and PagePanels when adding tabs/pages, and all controls when changing the Super property.

We launched our new website this week that includes an account login section where you can view your orders, manage your keys, download old versions and connect to the feedback system. Cocoa Preview
As we announced in September, REALbasic will support Cocoa, Apple's framework for Mac OS X software development, in mid-2009. Here is a preview of some of the new things you will be able to do when Cocoa support is available. The new functionality will include Mac OS X Leopard-style windows, spell checking in editfields, pictures in editfields, head up display (HUD) windows, and more.

Survey of the Month
For those of you who are not aware, REAL World will not be happening in May in Austin. Due to the economy being what it is, and everyone closely monitoring their expenses, we have decided to bring REAL World to you. Rather than have one event in Austin, we are going to schedule events in various cities around the United States.
