Welcome!
What's New with REALbasic?
REALbasic 2008 Release 4.2 shipped October 28th and fixes a problem that caused a crash on older Windows PCs. You can download the latest version from the product download page.
We are working on REALbasic 2008 Release 5 and it is expected to ship in December. REALbasic 2008 Release 5 improves upon the auto-complete feature, a REALbasic feature that everyone uses many times a day. Auto-complete will support namespaces and uses icons to show what type of thing is being selected from the auto-complete list.

In direct response to what we have heard from you, our users, our goal has been centered around improving the quality of REALbasic. We are continuing with that focus for Release 5.

REAL Software Tips
When creating your user interface, the tab order is very important. This is especially true if your interface uses a lot of editfields. When you add a new editfield to a window, it's last in the tab order. If it needs to be somewhere in the middle, it can be a pain to change the tab order. In R4, we added a feature to make this easy. Just right-click (control-click on the Mac) on the window and choose "Auto Adjust TabIndexes" from the contextual menu. There are two options for the order in which it will auto set your tab indexes, the most common being Top Down Left Right". Choosing this option will automatically set the tab order from the upper left corner of the window to the lower right.
