Thanks Brady! That was one part of it! The default was set to the splash, and 
it doesn't come up
in searches. However, there was another cause too : 
   winSplash.ShowModal           // Causes Window to appear as it should
   winSplash.Timer1.Mode = 0 // This causes the Window to reappear.


Regarding the SQL error...i have looked through the examples that came with 
5.5 and I don't see a single example of creating a table.
