I think it would make sense to keep things running through the server.
They are already connected to the server, no sense creating another
connection. You would just have to have the server look at the incoming
messages and determine whether to broadcast to all or not.
On another note, if it is going to the server and the client gets cut off
for some reason, you can still keep your message in a queue to send when
they are back online.
