I wrote a module a little while ago that interfaces with Draw Sprocket to
fade the screen and put up a blanketing window. I don't know if this will do
what you want or not, but I thought I'd mention it since it is a Toolbox way
to do what you're after. It's made for pre-Carbon (as I work in OS 9 and
that's easier for me), but if you need to change the declares to CarbonLib
it should be no problem (the source is open).
