I suspect that your problem is inside the plugin. When attempting to make a
tcp/ip connection with open transport the default behaviour is to do as
stated above and 'freeze' for a period of time while it searches for the
network. This period can be surprisingly long.
It is possible to code around this without too much trouble but it will have
to be done inside the plugin.
I suggest you try a different sql plugin or maybe contact the original
developer and suggest that they might want to look at finding a solution.
