I have a simple application with 1 editfield control and 1

(It shows the Roman equivalent it seems).
This is with RB3.5.2 Carbon.
On OS 9 or OS X?
I have region set to Japan and Language set to Japanese in the
Build Settings window.
Good, that's important, else this doesn't work. But with those
settings it should work. You do have the Japanese Language Kit
installed (if in OS 9)?
Now when I try with RB4.0.2 Carbon/OS X Japanese both controls
correctly display the Japanese text in the standalone app (I assume
it would work with RB3.5.2 Carbon/OS X Japanese too).
Don't assume -- test.
Should I use the Japanese RB version when I want to release a
Japanese version of my app?
No, it doesn't matter once you've built your app which version of RB
was used to build it.
