This is a guess, but I think you need to have DirectX installed. AFAIK
it's not necessary to have QuickTime if you play sounds that you have
dragged into your project, I think RB converts them to WAV when
compiling for Windows.

There have been reports about subs failing to play after you have played
an extarnal sound file. Could that be the case?
