Hi Robert,

It's cool that there will be an Oracle plug-in,
but bear in mind that an Oracle plug-in will still
require the purchase and maintenance of SQL*Net or
Net8/9 on each Mac --and you know how good vendors
are about keeping that stuff in-sync with their
Windows releases (complain and they'll just ask
you to switch to Java, which is also out of sync
with Windows, but at least can run on Windows
-sort of).

If you instead opt to use our free ODBC.NET
plug-in (available from
http://odbcRouter.com/m/odbcnet.sit), then you
only have to purchase our $349 server (for a
single Win2K box) and a _single_ copy of the
actual Windows version of SQL*Net or Net8/9. Our
server will then make that single instance
available to all of your REALbasicPro apps on
Mac OS, OS X and Windows. (Of course, you will
still need to respect any concurrent usage
restrictions of your ORACLE server licenses under
either strategy.) Aside from the actual savings,
you can keep everything in sync just by updating
that single instance of the vendor's actual
Windows drivers.

Best,
Tom at AugSoft
