Nope, no-show. In /Volumes/, all I see is "." and "..". Shouldn't at
least my Macintosh HD show up there?

Hmmm, maybe. But if so, then it's factory-installed. Maybe I'll work the
disk over with "Laufwerke konfigurieren" on one of  my OS 9 Macs...

Well, on mine it's still called "Disk Utility", but even that doesn't
show the disk. Even Apple System Profiler doesn't show it as a Volume;
just the entry in the USB-chain is there (and for some reason it's name
is blank, wheras on OS 9 the name is correct).

I'll have to try these suggestions again with my (OS 9) iBook in Target
Disk mode, maybe these are two different problems. Meanwhile thanks for
the tips.
