RB and MIDI control

I am looking for advice and or URLs that help
me determine if there is RB support for MIDI
and whether USB to serial adapters will support
the MIDI baud rate of 31.25 K.  If I can find a serial
adapter, I have the ability to modify the input and
output to support a MIDI current loop.  I want to use
a serial adapter because they are cheaper than a
USB to MIDI adapter.
