Just after some clarification.

I understand that individual user preferences are saved to the 
preference folder and on a server system that will go back to an 
individuals home folder.
If I want to save a registration code to make it easier for users in a 
school situation is the application folder going to give me a register 
once per machine instead of every single user situation?
