Mainly directing this question to anyone who sells to schools. Where do you save your registration number to make it easy for schools to register a product without having to do it for every user in the school.

At the moment I am going back to the Preference folder or ApplicationSupportFolder but both seem to require every user to do it.

If you save something into the Application folder then I suppose they have to log in as Admin reimage that machine and copy that around the school

Is there any solution that would minimise their pain?

Martin

All our software supports networking so we have a DB on a server that will contain registration stuff. We find that schools are heavily under supported and it can be a down right pain to get stuff that they don't find difficult to use. We've found most schools have a teacher or parent servicing their computers and their knowledge is very limited. Something worth looking into would be to write a simple service they put on their server that uses TCP and your program goes to check that for the registration. We also actually have the ability to install the software from the server (Custom installer) and sets up registration and server details automatically.

Best wishes and HTH,
Deane
