All our software supports networking so we have a DB on a server that
will contain registration stuff. We find that schools are heavily
under supported and it can be a down right pain to get stuff that they
don't find difficult to use. We've found most schools have a teacher
or parent servicing their computers and their knowledge is very
limited. Something worth looking into would be to write a simple
service they put on their server that uses TCP and your program goes
to check that for the registration. We also actually have the ability
to install the software from the server (Custom installer) and sets up
registration and server details automatically.
How does each copy of your software installed on the client machines
know where to look for the regis info. Doesn't the path to the server
vary from netwotk to network or any I not understanding something?
