AppleScript survived because its lead programmer batted for it,
even to standing on executive's desks.
Have you evidence of that?
I have read a lot of articles about how AppleScript survived because
the publishing industry said they wouldn't buy OS/X without it!
Just who do you think makes product decisions?
In many years of being involved in product-oriented development,
including a LOT of reading and communicating with people in the
field, I have never heard of the programmers having the right to make
decisions that override what marketing and management cook up,
especially with regards to product features.
A lot of my professional reading and interest is in user interface
design and usability - the main problem of professionals in that
field is that management want to bring them in to make some cosmetic
changes at the end of product development.
RB2005 is a classic case of ignoring usability issues until the
product was in late beta - for me to go into any more detail would be
violating NDA.
