What is the System font?

On OS 9 its charcoal(default), not sure about OS 10, Windows or Linx.

I thought it was Charcoal, and it used to be Geneva. However, I can't see how to set/check this in OS X now that I check. Its not under appearance or
keyboard etc.

That option was only for the smaller system fonts in OS 9 and is not available in OSX. The main Font was Charcoal unless you used a plug- in from an outside source.

I am experiencing a weird thing. When I run my app in Mac with g.textsize = 9
it looks fine. But in windows the characters are much larger. So did a
targetWin32 and made it 8 then 7 in windows, but there is no change. Is that normal?

I believe there are difference between font sizes as Win32 uses 96 pixels per inch as opposed to Mac's 72. It is usually smaller though. Small changes in the display size are usually not noticed 'on screen' but they can affect printouts. Not certain about this though.
