On OS X, if you resize a ProgressBar (make it shorter or taller in  
height) it will snap to the appropriate Apple specified sizes.

Although Apple may call these 10 and 16 pixels tall, I think you'll  
find that by the time you include the shadow they are to 12 or 19  
pixels tall.  20 pixels was a good choice at the time as it was the  
appropriate size on Windows and also the appropriate full size (19  
pixels) progressbar on the Mac.  Apple has since gone towards using  
the small size almost exclusively so it probably makes sense to try  
and match that size for your Mac apps.
