Here in Australia you can call yourself a Software Engineer but the
Institute of Engineers is also offering the opportunity to become a
Chartered Professional Engineer for Software Engineers. The difference
is basically about adding engineering, planned management skills, and
demonstrating a sufficient body of knowledge and achievement.
You lose your CP Eng. status if you don't maintain enough professional
study credits, again mainly in the management side of things.
