I'm going to chime in here, against my better judgement.
I never said I needed a degree to understand this stuff. I don't have
one, and I have created some very impressive stuff. I've landed big
contracts, met with Apple and Adobe about various things, and overall,
I'm doing pretty well.
I brought up the point because I've never had much experience with
binary data such as this. Maybe if I had taken a course, I'd have the
experience. Seems like something they'd teach. Do I need it? No. Does
anybody? No. I just mentioned it because despite everything I've done
and everything I can do, I didn't know this and maybe that's because I
never took a CS course.
I personally don't believe I need the course to do the job or
understand the stuff. Many employers tend to disagree, and they have
every right to. But I never thought I needed a degree to understand
binary operations.
