Seems weird as MacOSX and Linux are both versions of Unix with Windows the
odd one out. Most Linux guys I know are now using Macs. I myself use MacOSX,
Red Hat, Ubuntu, Debian, Win98, Win2000, WinXP, Vista all on the same
MacBook Pro (I mainly use MacOSX, the rest are mostly for trying out my
software on other platforms)

About Hackintosh: I was also tempted to buy another copy of Leopard and
install it on a 2.4 GHz PC box which isn't used anymore but haven't gotten
round to it. I think our American and Canadian colleagues should consider
that we still pay a substantial premium in Europe for Macs - for example:

                             US Europe

MacBook $1099 999 euro = $1472 (+34%)

MacBook Air $1799 1699 euro = $2503 (+ 39%)

MacBook Pro $1999 1799 euro = $2651 (+ 47%)

Mac Mini $599 499 euro = $733 (+ 47%)

iMac $1199 999 euro = $1472 (+ 23%)

Mac Pro $2799 2499 euro = $3682 (+ 32%)

This is also the reason why the Mac share in the US is 10% while it is still
around 2-3% in Europe. A new 15in PC laptop can be bought for 399 euro
($587) which won't even get you a used 2 year old MacBook - they sell for
about 700 euro ($1000) on eBay.de, so the desire for Macs is clearly there.

If you now also consider that a gallon of petrol currently costs $5.68 in
Europe (it was as high as $6.43) then using a hacked PC is a lot more
attractive.

Markus
