You can't buy a copy of Leopard for installation on a new machine.
Apple only sells UPGRADE licenses. The only way to get a new OSX
license is to buy a new Mac.
I bought Mac OS X 10.5.4 Retail Family Pack just the other week and
I did upgrade one MacBook Pro from Tiger with it, but it looks like
I can install other machines from scratch if I wish to do so...
I recently bought one of the few remaining XP's to install on my new
MacBookPro. It can only be used on that machine unless I contact
Microsoft and request them to allow me to change it to another machine.
The Family pack may have that same type of registration as it is
designed for up to 5 machine authorizations. I'm not certain how
strict Apple is about any more machines but I'm sure that question
can be answered by them.
The important thing is new machine re-install disks are only intended
to fix up the actual machine and may not work unless it is registered
at Apple. Win users have no choice but to authorize OEM versions at
MS as it's part of the install process.
How these Hack-Macs actually do it might be quite contrary to Apple's
wishes and their software may eventually be tightened up to disallow
them. But Hackers always manage to find some way when money to be
gained (legally or illegally) is involved.
