If you read the OSX software license, you'll see that the software
is an upgrade to your previous Macintosh software and that you're
only allowed to install it on Apple labeled Macintosh computers. It
is not a new license to use OSX, simply an upgrade to the license
you obtained when you bought your Apple labeled Macintosh
I am so glad I only use Apple labeled computers that I originally
bought new myself. I have no licensing issues whatsoever, but to be
honest I was not aware of the software license being an update only.
It does not hurt me in anyway then, and I am 100 % sure that I will
never use or support a hacked install of Mac OS X, but still it feels
strange to pay for an OS and not have a full license for it.
If a customer would come to me with problems on a hacked system, I
would issue a refund on the spot and never think about it again. I do
the same with others who ask for it, but usually solve the problem
anyway. But my time is too precious to spend it on users hacking a
great OS... They are not worth it in the end, not for me at least.
