Some time ago I purchased a really great piece of software written in REALbasic from Intellisense Inc which utilises a bar code reader to catalog all your books, music and movies.

Over the years I have built up quite a large collection of all three, and with this catalog copied to my PDA it stops me making the stupid mistake of buying the same thing twice (I have a very bad short term memory).

More recently, my insurance company asked me to put a value on this collection, which as it is spread across about five rooms and an attic meant I had to do it from the catalog.

Which in turn meant rolling my own solution. It copes with prices in ukp, euros, US and Canadian dollars.

If anyone out there either has the same catalog software and hasn't already done the same thing, or anybody interested in a fairly elementary exercise in RB, would be interested in a copy just email me directly and I'll be happy to send you the project files.

It is written in RB2006r4 which is the last full version I purchased, but it compiles and runs using a demo version of RB2008r4.

Regards,

Doug Neale
