What you all are describing sounds more like the IP address, which is totally, radically different. EACH network interface has it's own MAC address, and so if a user switches from Ethernet to WiFi his computer will be using a different MAC address. This is a very old discussion. MAC addresses are considered a poor choice for license locking.
