I don't know if it's still true, but the last time I talked to an attorney about it, the copyright office required that you display a copyright notice whenever your program runs, or maybe it's just the first *time* it runs, I don't remember. In either case, I include it in my splash screen, which is the exact same window people see when they choose About My Application...
