But it doesn't help me. I don't want to replace anything, I want the
EditField to display my string exactly as entered. If that means it has cr in some places, lf in others and crlf in still others, I want it to display
exactly that.

So, do you want a space between Paragraphs? A LF in Mac is ignored.
