That an object2D would for some reason have left and top?  They don't.
They have X an Y to specify the center, and width and height to set the
dimensions.

Why must the "anchor point" be the "center?"

Because that's how the engineers who designed the Object2D classes decided to do it.

And what is the center of an asymmetric object?

Like what? We were talking about OvalShape, which is not asymmetric. If you define your own FigureShape, then the anchor point can be whatever you want -- it's just the arbitrary point that all the other points are defined relative to.
