That's exactly the way I would do this... as the "target" object you might want to use a Picture as well, in case you want to save the result to a picture file instead of just displaying it in a window.

All I need is a rough idea of how to start this, I want to do the research into the methods, controls, etc, myself. So if you could just name the controls I should be using, that would be perfect!

You already named them yourself :)
