I am a Windows novice. I distribute a cross-platform application.
The newer releases of REALbasic create for my application, several dll
files. These apparently are required for the proper function of the
program
My program works on Windows when I have these dll files in the same
folder with the application.
My question
1. Where "should" they be put. Is there a "proper" location for these
files?
2. Things seem to work with the files in the same folder as the
application. Would they work if they were collected into one folder
and that folder was in the folder with the application?
3. Are there "rules" as to where the application is able to "find" the
dll files that it needs.
4. Is there some way to hide them so the user is not tempted to erase
them or throw them away?
My next step in distributing my Windows versions is to learn about
installers. But I presume that even if I had and understood
installers, I would need to know where to put these dll files.
Thanks.
