Matt Neuberg's REALbasic book has an example of building noughts and crosses (called tic-tac-toe in North America). Starts from the ground up and is quite object-oriented. Check out these links to Matt's stuff: the ttt game is still there (though it falls over when running - unsurprising since it dates back to 2001!):
