Yes, but don't we Mac users know better? ;)Even if modified visually for Windows, etc, you'd still want the magnifying glass popup menu plus the X is a nice courtesy. Given the growing prevalence of rounded search bars on the web (i.e. http://popurls.com/) , combined with a lack of defined search bar standard on Windows, I suspect a Windows app could get away with a rounded bar.
