The recent discussion about launghing a PDF raises a new idea for me.

If I launch application using FolderItem.launch, how do I know when it stops running so I can do some cleanup of files etc? I need to be able
to do this on both Macs and Windows

Thanks
Robin

I'm pretty sure you'll find this to be a pretty blind process. It should
be just like they double clicked whatever it is you launched.

If you're also writing the app you're launching, then just use an
IPCSocket or something of that sort.

On Mac, an AppleEvent may be better than an ipcsocket.

Great trick. Thanks.
I am not familiar with javascript, so I have 2 questions as a follow-up:
1- is it possible to check that javascript is enabled ? Or to enable it
at run-time ?

For Mac you can use the WebPreferencesMBS class to change this setting.

2- more importantly, how would you copy the the content of a page
displayed in an htmlViewer or the source code of the page using the same
kind of trick (or any other !) ?

My plugins have methods for this for Mac and Windows.

Greetings from Rome,
Christian
