The MBS plugin has the advantage of being "universal" (old and other operating systems are handled by him). I agree that for a single function, one would be either rich or crazy to buy the MBS plugin, but when you have bought it, you realize you can do so much you couldn't do with plain RB code and you start making more complex/ beautiful/complete things.

You can of course learn declares, but at the time you need your first declare, it can be a complex one and you should have started earlier to not waste time. Also, I guess there are things that aren't doable even with declares in RB (for instance, I think the Movie (or MoviePlayer) object has no "handle" property in RB, while it has one at the OS level, so you can't use declares with movies), while the MBS plugin has a MovieMBS class in which he can add what he wants.
