Thanks Arnaud and Charles,
I keep looking at MBS but have trouble justifying the cost.
I guess one of these days I'll look into declares.
The MBS plugin has the advantage of being "universal" (old and other
operating systems are handled by him). I agree that for a single
function, one would be either rich or crazy to buy the MBS plugin,
but when you have bought it, you realize you can do so much you
couldn't do with plain RB code and you start making more complex/
beautiful/complete things.
You can of course learn declares, but at the time you need your
first declare, it can be a complex one and you should have started
earlier to not waste time. Also, I guess there are things that
aren't doable even with declares in RB (for instance, I think the
Movie (or MoviePlayer) object has no "handle" property in RB, while
it has one at the OS level, so you can't use declares with movies),
while the MBS plugin has a MovieMBS class in which he can add what
he wants.
Some declares are simple and some are quite complex. They are not that
hard to do but it helps if you understand C a bit.
I use very few declares but MBS provides a powerful tool whenever you
wish to extend Rb into the OSX realm.
It costs if you cannot recover the investment somehow ( like a
hobbyist like me ) but, if it is your Bread and Butter and you can
write off the expense; go for it.
There are various packages that Christian can help you decide on.
